Entertaining...pure and simple.
I really enjoyed the original and I was looking forward to seeing the sequel. I felt that it was just as entertaining as the original. I go see a movie to lose myself in a story for a couple of hours and this was a fun film that my whole family enjoyed. The movie continues at a good pace and never makes you want to leave your seat. It may not win any awards but than again, most of my favorite movies never have that end up being the most entertaining.

I can't wait to see both of these films on Blu-ray and enjoy them many times over the years! Get your popcorn and enjoy the movie!

Book of Secrets
This has to be one of the worst sequels I have had the mis-fortune to sit through at the cinema.

A complete milk on the first film with a complete lack of any other original ideas, it should have gone directly to DVD and then we could pick it up in the bargain basement items.

Good fun film. Better than original release
I've seen both of the National Treasure films, and friends that have seen it as well, all agree. The sequel was uncharacteristically better than the original. Plenty of action, very good story and keeps you on the edge of your seat. No, it's not a great film destined for fame, but it's certainly a good fun film to watch. Several of us saw it a second time and liked it as much all over again.

If you like National Treasure, you'll like Book of Secrets
If you liked National Treasure, you'll like National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets. It has much of the same feel. It is fast paced, has historical interest, clue finding, amazing scenery, stunning music and some good humor to lighten the mood.

The same cast of characters appears in this movie Ben (Nicholas Cage), his pretty and bright now ex-girlfriend, his quirky sidekick, and his father. In this sequel his mother also joins the crew.

It's an intricate story beginning with Ben's great-great grandfather Thomas Gates. The family believed Thomas Gates was a civil war hero. Ben's father is telling a story about their ancestor at a conference, when a black market dealer named Wilkinson shows up. Wilkinson has a page from John Wilkes Booth's diary with Thomas Gates' name on it, which makes him appear to be a conspirator in President Lincoln's assassination.

Ben sets out to clear his family name. The clue finding is complicated and interesting similar to the original movie. It takes them to Buckingham Palace, the oval office, a brief meeting/kidnapping with the President, and finally to Mount Rushmore where everything comes together.

The critics panned this movie picking on details and saying "this couldn't happen". I rarely agree with professional movie critics, and this is no exception. It's not a documentary. It's a great action movie that is larger than life, and that's what makes it a great movie.
